Stockholm Palace
Stockholm
This is the official residence of the monarchs of Sweden.
The building is imposing and rather austere at first sight. The current palace was rebuilt after a fire devastated the previous castle "Tre Kronor" 7 May 1697. Fortifications were present since the Middle Ages but his best defense is its location on the small island of "Gamla Stan" : the old Town.
Do not miss the changing of the royal guard that monitors the castle and the royal family since 1523.
Otherwise, the building is huge (over 1,400 pieces): it houses a church, antique museum "Gustav III", the treasure room with the crown jewels and the Museum of the three crowns with part of the ruins old castle Tre Kronor.
