The majority of the current buildings were constructed during the middle of the 19th century by Louis Bresson (1817-1893), collaborator of Bossan. The chapel is dedicated in 1867. It contains a mural by Gabriel Tyr (1817-1868) whose great spirituality is typical of painters from the Lyon School of art. The organ by Cavaillé-Col is inaugurated February 2, 1870 by Charles-Marie Widor.
Mongré became a military hospital during the First World War; 2437 wounded were treated here.
