Between 2000 and 2006 the Musée de la Conscription (Museum of the Enlisted) traced two centuries of military drafts and enlistments (1798-1998), volunteer recrutement, drawings for the draft, replacements, revision council... In December 2006, the Museum was the victim of a storm which led to its disappearance and closure for one year. The choice was then made to change the museum's focus to the local traditon of celebrating the "Conscrits" and, especially, on the extremely original celebration held in Villefranche-sur-Saône, all the while continuing to celebrate its origins which are inseparable from the current day celebration
