At 2,207 metres, the Aouille ("needle" in local dialect) du Criou is one peak you cannot ignore. Flanked by rocks and mountain pastures, the view includes the valley, Le Buet (at 3,200 metres, the highest peak at Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval and nicknamed "Mont Blanc des dames"), the Sallière Tower, the spur of rock known as Rousse des Chambres (reached from the Folly hut) and the Dents Blanches range.
