Lacenas is famous for its "confrérie des Compagnons du Beaujolais", a brotherhood that holds wine inductions. Every year at Lacenas, the village priest, on behalf of the Prefect, announces the start of the grape harvest. This is called the "ban des vendanges". The name has stuck and now designates the meeting held in Lacenas in September where the wine producers officially set the start of the harvest.
