The chapel was built by the communicants in the village in 1675, taking the stone from the ruins of an older chapel, built in 1499, not far away at Crest de Gimbel near La Combe.

St. Theodulus is a popular saint in the Valais area. People pray to him for protection against lightning strikes and storms.
Tradition has it that its bell was buried during the French Revolution but, as the hiding place was never found, the chapel had to be given a new bell.
On the right of the West Front, above the stoop, the instruments of Christ's Passion were carved in relief by one of the Dunoyer family.
