Inca capital
Cusco
Cuzco (or Cusco) comes from "Qusqu" in Quechua, the native language of the ancient capital of the Inca empire. It is a city of altitude (3400 m) quite hilly and very seductive. It contains mixtures of different architectural eras. Despite a relatively large population (over 300 000), one has the impression of being in a large village in the center but, taking the height, one quickly realizes that the houses climb the slopes the surrounding mountains. Let yourself be carried by the gentle cobblestone streets to discover a still vivid testimony of a turbulent past.
