Undoubtedly, one of the emblems of Lyon. You will certainly walk up there.
Fourviere is also known for the trafic jammed tunnel but the basilica presents more interest !

The basilica is quite recent : nineteenth century, during the Franco-Prussian War (1870), the people of Lyon vowed to extend the Marian sanctuary if the city was spared. The prayer was answered and it was built from 1872 to 1884 by Pierre Bossan and Sainte Marie Perrin in the Gothic and Byzantine style. Indoor of basilica is also great. By night the building and the panorama on Lyon is just incredible.
